VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Emergency crews responded to a single-vehicle rollover crash that damaged a light pole and temporarily closed a portion of La Paz Drive in Victorville on Wednesday afternoon.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:46 p.m. near 15059 La Paz Drive, in front of the former Verizon building, where the road curves between Redondo Drive and Plaza Drive.
The Victorville Fire Department responded to the scene, along with deputies from the Victorville Police Department. Southern California Edison was also dispatched due to the downed light pole.
Although the call was initially dispatched as a traffic collision with extrication, emergency crews confirmed that the driver was able to self-extricate.
He was later transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not believed to be serious.
A woman at the scene said her boyfriend was driving the vehicle when something happened with one of the tires, causing him to lose control.
The vehicle, identified as a 2002 Toyota Camry, overturned and landed on its roof on the sidewalk after colliding with a light pole.
“As far as I could tell, it didn’t look too bad,” she said regarding his condition.
As a safety precaution, La Paz Drive was closed between Mojave Drive and Roy Rogers Drive to allow Edison crews to respond.
No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
